Abstract

452,946. Cartridge-belt boxes. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and LARSSON, C. A., Broadway, Westminster. June 28, 1935, No. 18501. [Classes 9 (i) and 92 (ii)] A box for containing and feeding machine gun cartridge belts is divided into a number of compartments each receiving a single loop of the belt so that the cartridges being withdrawn from any compartment will not be restricted by the cartridges in any other compartment. In the form shown, the compartments are formed by transverse partitions F<1> hinged about bottom pivots a and provided with pins f<2> moving in downwardly inclined slots a<2>. The belt is looped as shown over the partitions and when the pins f<2> are at the lower ends of the slots the belt is free to be fed into the gun over a roller B<2> and through a guide B<1>. The upper ends of the partitions are curved towards the outlet. A spring plate J spaced above the first partition prevents the belt slipping out of place when the box is stood on end. The outlet of the box is provided with ribs B<3> and spring catches B<4> for ready attachment to the gun. The box is provided with hinged lids D, D<1>.
