Abstract

451,205. Radiators for heating buildings. SQUASSI, G. C., 31, Via Alberico 11, Rome. Jan. 30, 1936, No. 2887. Convention date, Jan. 31, 1935. [Classes 64 (ii) and 64 (iii)] Buildings are heated by pipes embedded in the plaster, to which the heat is transmitted by metal wool. The heating pipe 1, Fig. 4, is welded to a sheet metal strip 3 which may be serrated as shown, or may be plain or provided with transverse cuts instead of slots. The pipe may alternatively be of oval section, and the metal strip may be replaced by transverse metal blades or wires welded to the pipe. The radiating elements may encircle the pipe, or the latter may be constituted by the metal strip itself bent in its central portion to form the pipe and welded along a longitudinal seam. In another alternative, Fig. 14, thick radiating ribs 5 may be used, and in another alternative, Fig. 18, the pipe 7 may be of U -section, welded to a flat radiating plate which may have any of the forms referred to above. In Fig. 21, the pipe 8 is of wider section where it joins the radiating plate. The pipe 1, Fig. 22a, is placed in a groove 15 in a plaster layer 13 on a wall 14, and the radiating plate 2 is covered, adjacent to the pipe, with a slip of insulating material 10, and then over its whole surface with metal wool 9. Wire netting 11 and plaster 12 are then applied, the plaster penetrating the metal wool. In Fig. 28a no radiating elements attached to the pipe are used.
