Abstract

The mixing of mineral oil or grease with "colloidal graphite" (the commercial suspension of high concentration of graphite in oil) to form lubricating oils or greases is effected at above 90 DEG C. advantageously; protective colloids, e.g. white and/or yolk of egg are added during or after the mixing; the oil or grease is kept under pressure whilst the "graphite" is forced into it--or vice versa; the mixer is rotated and/or reciprocated during the process; and the product is filtered or otherwise freed from particles separating out on cooling. The products may be diluted with more oil or grease. In an example, motor oil is used at 90--150 DEG C.
