Abstract

[Class 81 (ii)] In the invention of the parent Specification, which comprises indicating the exhaust of respiratory filter materials by including therein electrodes connected in circuit with an electric signal and spaced by hygroscopic material rendered conducting on becoming moist, the electrodes are provided with springs constantly urging them toward one another such that, on moistening of the hygroscopic material due to failure of the filter, the operation of the signal is assured by direct contact between the electrodes. The electrode plates 1, 2, are perforated and enclose material such as magnesium chloride. Spring clips may be applied to the edges of the plates through insulating material, or, as shown, a supplementary gauze electrode 6 is pressed towards the electrode 2 by compression springs 7, the hygroscopic material 3 positioned between 2 and 6 becoming conducting on moistening, and subsequently softening and being displaced, thereby permitting direct contact between the electrodes.
