Abstract

Electrodes and other parts of discharge tubes and other radiating bodies are blackened by electrophoretic deposition from a colloidal solution of graphite, active carbon or other substance or of a substance which may be rendered black by further treatment. In an example tungsten oxide is deposited and is subsequently reduced in hydrogen to produce a black tungsten coating.
