Abstract

450,696. Charging concrete-mixing &c. machines. WIMPEY & CO., Ltd., G., and VOLLER, F. J., 27, The Grove, Hammersmith. London. Feb. 8. 1935. No. 4176. [Classes 78 (iii), 78 (iv), and 78 (v)] A shovel 74, guided by the handle 75, is operated by the rope 70 leading to a winding-drum 68, in order to penetrate a heap of material and load it into the usual charging-hopper 30 of a concretemixing machine. The rotary mixing- drum is connected by a driving chain 28 to a countershaft 20 which is driven from the motor shaft by a second chain passing over the sprocket 22. A second shaft 41 in alignment with the shaft 20 and connectible thereto by a sliding clutch controlled by handle 39, carries bevel gear 43 driving a further shaft connected to the winding drum 68 by a chain 48. Other means (not shown), connect the motor to the drum 34 for winding and paying out the cable 32 to raise and lower the hopper 30. Jib cranes. The rope 70 passes over a fixed jib 36 provided with two pairs of guide pulleys 72, 76 in planes at right angles to one another. Winches; conjoint control of brake and clutch. The sprocket wheel 52, Fig. 4, on the winding drum shaft forms one element of a sliding clutch, the other member 53 of which is engaged for driving by depressing the handle 62 thereby raising the arm 64 and causing the member 54 to move the shaft axially to the right by co-operation with fixed cam surfaces 56. When moved upwards to its limiting position the handle 62 applies a band brake 80, Fig. 6, to the shaft.
