Abstract

<PICT:0450617/III/1> <PICT:0450617/III/2> Apparatus for drying coatings of enamel or the like comprises a stand provided with castors for movement from place to place a heating unit consisting of a substantially vertical bank of electric incandescent carbon filament lamps, each provided with a reflector adapted to direct the radiation therefrom in a generally horizontal direction on to the coating of enamel or the like, and a second heating unit consisting of a substantially horizontal bank of similar lamps, each provided with a reflector adapted to direct the radiation therefrom downwards on to a further coating. In the construction shown, adapted for use in the re-enamelling of automobile bodies, carbon filament lamp bulbs 18 are fitted in reflectors 17 which are mounted in a vertical frame 15. The front of the frame is covered with a wire screen and the sides and rear are formed of perforated metal 16. The frame is supported on castors 12. A second similar frame member 19 is provided for treating the upper corner of the body being dried.
