Abstract

450,609. Mop - wringing appliances. WATLING, H., Mid Tors, Dousland, near Yelverton, South Devon. March 21, 1935, No. 8839. [Class 19] A mop consists of a bag 7 of woven material or the like, through the bottom of which is laced a string 8, say, from the left hand corner to the right hand corner and back again, the length of the string being such that its ends extend beyond the left hand corner. A second string 8 is laced in like manner through the bottom of the bag from the right hand corner and a draw string 9 is laced through the mouth of the bag. The strings 8 are passed through holes 3 in a disc 2 at the bottom of a handle 1 and are drawn tight with the result that the mop material is puckered under the disc 2. The ends of the string are wound round the handle 1 between the disc 2 and a rubber ring 10 and are knotted together. The mop head is secured to a ribbed sleeve 4 on the handle by the draw string 9. Relative rotation of the handle 1 and member 4 wrings the mop.
