Abstract
450,245. Fluid-blast switches. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Dec. 11, 1934, No. 35546. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1933. [Class 38 (v)] Fluid actuation.-A switching arrangement for A.C. circuits comprises an extinguishing- chamber switch with flowing extinguishing medium, as air, and a disconnecting air switch in series, a contact of each of the two switches forming a common constructional part which is secured in a wall sealing the chamber in a gas-tight manner. The air switch is opened directly after the power switch, which is reclosed after the air switch is opened, leaving the circuit broken only at the air switch In Fig. 1, the casing a of a compressed-air switch is closed by a wall f serving to mount the switch on a hollow insulator h. The fixed contacts c, d of the compressed-air switch and disconnecting switch, respectively, are carried in the wall f. A spring g opposes the opening movement of the movable contact b of the power switch. In Fig. 2, the fixed contact c comprises a number of segments against which the movable contact b bears. In a polyphase construction, the supporting insulators are arranged star-fashion on a common metal casing which may serve as the air-reservoir.
