449,289. Work-holders for electrolytic treatment. LANGBEIN - PFANHAUSERWERKE AKT.-GES., 76, Torgauer Strasse, Leipsic, Germany. Oct. 16, 1935, Nos. 28531 and 28532. Convention dates, Jan. 16, and May 10. [Class 41] A holder for mounting sliding-clasp fasteners during plating, anodic or other electrolytic treatment comprises a bolt 4, Fig. 1, of insulating material on which is mounted a helical metal band 1. The fasteners 3 already mounted on a fabric strip 2 are inserted between the turns of the helix and the whole compressed between a flange 7 and an insulating sleeve 5 by a nut 6. The bolt 4 is provided with longitudinal grooves to receive the fasteners. In a modification, Fig. 4, the helix is replaced by a series of metal discs 11 mounted on a metal rod 10 and separated by resilient washers 12. The discs are provided with grooves 15 to receive lugs 16 on the fasteners. In the anodization of aluminium fasteners, the metal parts of the holder may be of aluminium. The oxide layer formed on the holder may be removed therefrom after each operation by pickling in hot caustic soda solution.
