Abstract
448,960. Roller - and - breast mills. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-, 28, Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, London.-(Wetter, J. W. ; Robertsdale, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.- [Representative of Rockhill Coal & Iron Co.]) May 15, 1935, No. 14276. [Class 59] Coal &c. is broken by a spiked or corrugated roller or rollers freely suspended above a conveyer having a substantially straight line movement, the gravitational movement of each roller toward the conveyer being limited by stops which maintain the spikes above the surface of the conveyer. Succeeding rollers may have shorter spikes more closely spaced and may be spaced a shorter distance from the conveyer. As shown, a spiked, fluted, &c. roller 7 is suspended on an arm 9 pivoted at 10 and adjustably positioned for a rising and falling movement above the conveyer belt 2a by a stop 12. Coal &c. is fed by a shoot 1 to the travelling belt and is crushed by the roller 7 which is rotated by the material on the belt. The roller may be weighted and a series of rollers employed at different distances from the belt and having spikes of different size and pitch.
