Abstract

Chlorinated organic substances such as chlorinated mineral rubber, the mineral known under the Registered Trade Mark "Gilsonite", or drying, semi-drying or non-drying oils such as linseed, chinawood, cotton-seed or castor oil, are added together with selenium to a rubber mix, to impart fire-resistant qualities thereto. Metal carbonates such as alkaline earth, zinc, or magnesium carbonate are added as fillers. The composition may be used as an electric cable sheathing. Specifications 433,727 and 433,728 are referred to.
