Abstract

446,296. Sewing. NIXON, R., 21, Harewood Road, Colliers Wood, London. Nov. 6, 1934, No. 31818. [Class 112] A needle-threading device comprises a standard 5 with a groove containing an eyepenetrating wire 1 provided with a notch 2. The needle 7 is placed at right angles to the standard with its head in the groove and slid downwards. The wire 1 enters the eye and the thread 8 laid in the notch 2. On sliding the needle upwards, the thread is pulled through the eye, Fig. 2. The invention may be applied to threading sewing-machine needles. In this case, Fig. 6, the standard 1 is replaced by a grooved rod 10 and an arm 12 which fit alongside the needle 11. The device is slid along with. the point of the needle in the groove of the rod 10 until the wire 1 penetrates the eye. The thread 8 is then laid in the notch 2 as before and the device withdrawn, pulling the thread through the needle eye.
