Abstract

445,561. Coating moulds and cores. LUMB, C. F., 4, Cleveland Square, St. James' Street, London. Oct. 10, 1934, No. 29070. [Class 83 (i)] In a method of preparing metal castings having heat, corrosion, and wear resisting surfaces, a layer of material adapted to combine or alloy with the metal being cast is sprayed upon the surfaces of the mould and core, or one of them, prior to casting. The spraying is performed in the known manner by forcing metallic or non-metallic material through an oxy-acetylene or like high-temperature flame which plays upon the surface being treated. Zinc, aluminium and copper may be employed in this manner.
