[Class 108 (i)] [See also Group X] A vehicle body or container, other structure or building comprises a framework of vertical and horizontal metal tubes with longitudinal T- section ribs, cross straps or spacing members secured to and between the tubular members, panels and binding strips for securing the panels to the tubular members which may also serve as circulating conduits for liquids or air of any predetermined temperature desirable according to the nature of the contents. The tubular members 1 are preferably constructed as two half members 1<a>, Fig. 11, which when assembled present two ribs 1<b>, 1<a>, spacing wooden members 4 having curved ends to fit the members 1 are secured to, and between the members 1 and secured thereto and the outer and inner panels 5 are provided with returned ends 5a which are secured to the members 1 by channel strips 2 adapted to be slid into position. The tops of the vertical side members 1 are mitred to connect to the horizontal members 1, Fig. 12. The cornices are formed by shaped wooden members 10 secured to the longitudinal side and roof members and between the roof members are bridging members 11. The vertical members 1 are positioned on the floor which comprises a timber bottom plate 3, a cork layer 3<a>, and an aluminium netting or matting 3b which are secured to the uprights by brackets 8, 8<a>, and flange 5b. Strengthening members 6 are shaped and secured as shown in Fig. 12. The door surrounds comprise half tubular units 1<a>, Fig. 16, and shaped members 12 secured together and to the panelling by the strips 2. An internal stiffening steel tube 14 and wooden packing piece 15 are provided. The upright door-surround members are connected by spacing wooden members 13 and wooden hinge strap members to uprights 17 and tubular members 1, Fig. 16, while the upper horizontal members 12, 1<a>, Fig. 15, are secured to the roof bridging members 11 by straps 19 of shape similar to straps 10. The lower member 12 is secured to the floor. The door comprises two vertically hinged panels 20 and one horizontally hinged panel 21, Fig. 1, the edges of the panels being provided with rubber packing strips 22. In a modification the cornices comprise shaped wooden members 25, Fig. 18, in place of the members 10 and the roof comprises longer bridging members. The upright tubular members may be provided with channels formed in the members or attached thereto to serve as window guides and the tubular members may be formed as one-piece tubes instead of in complementary halves. Fig. 27 shows a modification in which the outer T-shaped rib is retained but L-shaped flanges are provided on the inner side between which flanges a wooden member 31 is secured to which the panelling &c. may be secured. Insulating material may be packed between the inner and outer panels.
