[Class 36] In a metal-sheathed multi-conductor highfrequency communication cable the influence of the metal sheath on the outer circuits of the cable is compensated by employing in the circuits adjacent the sheath conductors whose direct current resistance is lower than that of the conductors of the inner circuits by such an amount that at a specified frequency within the range of frequencies over which the cable operates the alternating current resistances of the inner and outer circuits are substantially equal. The compensation is preferably effected by making the conductors of the outer circuits of larger diameter than the conductors of the inner circuits so as to increase the inductance of the outer circuits, but compensation may also be effected by the use of conductors of different conductivity for the inner and outer circuits. 444,880.
