[Class 64 (ii)] [See also Groups VI, XI, and XXXVII] In an electric toaster, a timing mechanism is provided for regulating the duration of cooking, which depends upon the extent of the winding-movement imparted to a winding - lever 85 which is determined by an abutment which is set automatically by thermally operated means, so that a lesser movement is permitted when the toaster is hot than when it is cold. The said means comprise a metallic bellows 95, the end of which determines the position of a pivoted stop 94 in the path of the lever 85. The stop is kept against the bellows by a spring 96. The bellows are connected by a pipe 98 to a bulb 99, the whole being filled with a fluid, e.g. pea-nut oil. The bulb, as shown, is positioned on the middle line at the rear of the toaster, but may be otherwise situated, e.g. beneath one of the trays 64.
