Abstract
444,646. Golf practising appliances. BOWSER, G. E., 9, Neville Road, and HARDING, W., 63, Laurel Road, both in Leicester. Oct. 11, 1934, No. 29155. [Class 132 (ii)] In a golf-practising device wherein the ball is tethered to an extensible, resilient member, the member is anchored by connection to a pair of heavy blocks or like supports connected together and adapted merely to rest on the ground or other supporting surface. As shown in Fig. 11, the ball is attached by a cord 5 to one end of a spring 14, the other end of the spring being anchored to one of a number of cross-bars 2 connecting a pair of heavy blocks 1. In a modification. Fig. 1, the spring 3 is stretched between the blocks 1 and the ball 6 is connected centrally thereof by the cord 5. To facilitate attachment of the cord to the spring, the central coil of the spring may be arranged at right angles to the remaining coils. The undersurfaces of the blocks or of pads attached thereto may be smooth, or such surfaces may be roughened by grooving, indenting, embossing or otherwise to prevent slip. The spring may be replaced by a length of elastic 9, Fig. 10, furnished at its ends with snap-hooks 11.
