Abstract

442,610. Vehicles with removable bodies. NORTH, O. D., 76, Elm Park Mansions, Park Walk, Chelsea, HUGH, P. G., and SCAMMELL LORRIES, Ltd., 52, High Holborn, both in London. Oct. 8, 1934, No. 28786. [Class 108 (i)] A wheeled container adapted to be drawn up ramps on to a vehicle and to be tipped thereon to discharge its contents comprises a metal body 1 having an end discharge door 5 and one or more apertures with closures 35. The end door 5 is adapted to be hinged at 7 in a U-shaped door frame 4 and to be locked in position and adapted to be released from the front end by means of hooks 8 which are guided by plates 10 and cam pins 11 so that on the rod 9 being moved endwise the hooks engage the door and clamp it in position or, on the other hand, release it. The rod or rods 9 are operated by a lever 13b through a link 13 arranged as shown. The container 1 is provided at the front with a caster wheel 18 mounted in a fork 19 which is carried by a vertical bearing member 20, both the wheel and the member 20 being adapted to be clamped when desired to prevent motion by means of a key 29. The container is adapted to be tipped and the end door released as shown in Fig. 5. Top closures 35 are provided with springs 38 adapted to retain the closures in the open or closed position at will.
