Abstract

441,681. Endless - belt conveyers. UNITED GLASS BOTTLE MANUFACTURERS, Ltd., and DORMAN, E. P., 40, Norfolk Street, Strand, London. June 20, 1934, No. 32317/35. Divided out of 441,546. [Class 78 (i)] In a leer stacker of the kind comprising a stacker bar operated automatically at regular intervals to sweep a row of bottles or the like into the leer from a conveyer 2 travelling transversely across the leer entrance, a supply conveyer 100, arranged between the conveyer 2 and the bottle-forming machine, receives the bottles from a rotary table 132 on to which they are lifted from the machine delivery shoot 130 by a cradle 140, the whole of the moving parts of the apparatus being operated in timed relationship from the forming machine itself. The stacker bar (not shown) and the cross conveyer 2 are driven through variable speed gearing 80 from a shaft 70 and a manually operable timing device 88 is incorporated in the drive as described in Specification 441,546. The cradle 140 is adjustably mounted on an arm 143 carried by a bracket 144 which is swung about a shaft 145 by rack mechanism of which the member 147 is reciprocated by a cam device 148, 150. A curved plate 141 supports the bottles during transfer to the table 132, and a stop 160 is actuated by a cam device 166, 168 so that it swings into positions to arrest the bottles in the shoot 130 during operation of the cradle 140. The cam discs 150, 168 are mounted on a common shaft 170 which also effects rotation of the table .132, this shaft being connected by gearing 152 to the main driving shaft 110. The latter carries a pinion 180 actuated directly from the forming machine and serves to drive, in addition to the table 132, cradle 140, and stop 160, the supply conveyer 100, the shaft 70, and an endless chain 105 having fingers 104 for transferring the bottles from the table 132 to the supply conveyer and from the latter to the cross conveyer 2. The setting of the moving parts of the apparatus in relation to the operation of the forming machine can be varied, e.g. when changing over to a different size or type of ware, by rotation of the shaft 110 by a hand operated pinion 184 meshing with the pinion 180.
