Abstract
440,806. Jetties. ROTINOFF, G., Regent House, Kingsway, London. July 2, 1934, No. 19443. [Class 68 (ii)] [See also Group X] A method of erecting a reinforced jetty from a plurality of pre - cast reinforcedconcrete columns, beams or bracing members, flooring or other sections having reinforcements projecting from their ends, comprises assembling the said sections together to form the structure with their projecting reinforcements overlapping one another, rigidly securing the adjacent sections together by clamps, shuttering or the like, concreting the joints containing the overlapping reinforcements, and removing the clamps, shuttering or like securing means. As shown in Fig. 1, reinforcement a, f projects from the ends of the reinforcedconcrete column section e, and lateral reinforcement c projects from the integral cruciform part b of the section. The pre-cast beam d, Fig. 1, has projecting reinforcements which overlap the lateral reinforcements c, and these reinforcements are subsequently enclosed in concrete. Additional reinforcement h projecting laterally from the cruciform portion b may be overlapped with the projecting reinforcement of pre-cast floor units. Where precast floor units are employed, these may be supported on recessed portions of the cruciform part b of the column section. The two aligned sections of a column are connected by concrete which encloses the overlapped reinforcement a, f and is cast inside shuttering i which is shown at the right-hand side of Fig. 1 and is adapted to secure the aligned sections together by clamps i<1>. An air hole or spout and a grouting hopper k are provided, although grouting may, if desired, be effected through the spout and venting by way of the hopper. In a modification, the lateral reinforcement projects directly from the pre-cast column section, without the provision of a cruciform part b, and the side of the section adjacent the reinforcement may be roughened to key with the concrete cast between the column and the beam. The column section shown in Fig. 3 is of circular cross-section with radially projecting reinforcement q overlapping the projecting reinforcement of the flooring section. The laterally-projecting part s of the section e shown in Fig. 5 has a stepped portion t, and the end of the beam is similarly stepped to key with the concrete cast in the joint. Reinforcement x also projects diagonally from the section e for overlapping the projecting reinforcement of a pre-cast bracing section y. Brackets z and clamps z<1> are used for securing the beam and bracing sections to the column section. A column section and beam may be temporarily connected by brackets u, Fig. 6, which are clipped to brackets v secured upon the beam. With this arrangement, erection of further column sections and beams may be effected whilst concreting and setting of the beam joints is taking place. In another form, the shuttering w, Fig. 7, for the joint between beam and column sections d, e is secured by clamps w<1> to these sections, and the concreting is effected through an aperture in the top plate w<2> of the shuttering.
