440,305. Hydraulic transmission of power. SCIAKY, D., 13, Rue Charles Fourier, Paris. April 23, 1935, No. 12207. Convention date, April 20, 1934. [Class 69 (ii)] In a pressure-transmitting system including low and high pressure hydraulic rams, both rams are moved by pistons acted on by compressed gas, control means for the gas being provided so that the high pressure ram is actuated on the completion of the work of the low pressure ram. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a ram 11 actuated by compressed air acting on a piston 10 forces liquid from a cylinder 13 through a cylinder 16 to the working cylinder 19. When there is a predetermined pressure in the liquid system, it acts through a member 120 to operate a valve 5, so that compressed air depresses a piston 14, and a smaller ram 15 forces liquid to the working cylinder at a higher pressure. In a modification, the valve 5 is replaced by a valve 28, 29, Fig. 2, acted on by a spring 33 and a pressure diaphragm 31. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also statements that the rams 11, 15 may be electromagnetically operated, and that the high and low pressure pneumatic cylinders may be combined. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
