[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 8, 1935.] [Class 20 (i)] [See also Group XVIII] The contents of a storage bin A for a granular material are withdrawn by a measuring drawer 26, Figs. 2 and 3, adapted to be inserted into a compartment 27 beneath the false bottom 24 of the bin and, during its sliding movements, to actuate a sliding plate 30 which covers an aperture 25 in the false bottom when the drawer is withdrawn and uncovers the aperture when the drawer is inserted. Further, the drawer is provided with a pouring channel 28<A> divided from the drawer by a swinging gate 28, and the pouring channel is provided with the means for effecting the movements of the plate 30. In the construction shown, the pouring channel has notches 29 adapted to engage with a spring- controlled rod 34 on the plate 30. As shown in Fig. 4, the rod 34 passes through apertures 33 in the side walls 31 of the plate and has two rearward extensions one of which is connected to the controlling spring 37 while the other is bent laterally to journal in an orifice 36 in the side wall. This mounting of the rod is such as to allow ready engagement with and disengagement from the notches 29. The plate is guided in channels 46 in the false bottom, carries a leaf spring 38 which engages with the base of the bin, and is provided with lateral strips or brushes 48 which prevent the contents of the bin from escaping into the compartment 27. A small coiled spring 41 has one end projecting through an orifice 39 in the cabinet, which end is adapted to engage with the lower edge of an end wall 32 of the plate 30 to hold the plate in its aperture-closing position when the drawer is removed. The spring is depressed when the drawer is inserted. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a small bin 6, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), adapted to be placed upon the shelf 5 of the bin A. The contents of the bin are withdrawn by a drawer 12 to which measured quantities are delivered by a slidable measure 15. The drawer 12 is disposed beneath a false bottom 13 and the measure is mounted between the false bottom and a plate 20. The measure is divided by lateral walls 17, 17<A>, 17B, into a number of bottomless compartments and the quantity of material delivered to the drawer 12 is determined by the extent of the withdrawal of the measure. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
