439,564. Moulding dough by rolling machines. VICARS, Ltd., T. & T., and CROSLAND, E. M., Earlestown, Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire. May 10, 1934, No. 14088. [Class 87 (ii)] A machine for moulding dough blanks for biscuits and the like comprises a moulding roller 1 with recesses 3, a feeding roller 2, and a scraper 4, interposed in the bight of the rollers and having a knife edge at the leading edge 5 of a tapered head 6, one or both faces 7, 8 whereof are arcuate. The base of each face 7, 8 terminates in an abrupt edge 9, 10 so that dough tends to adhere to the rollers and not to the scraper. The curvatures of the faces are similar to the corresponding rollers and their radii of curvature may thus be different. The faces may be of different lengths. The scraper is bolted or screwed on a bracket 12 fulcrumed on a shaft 14 eccentrically fixed on a shaft 13 rotatable in a bracket 15. The shaft 13 is rotatable by gearing 16, 17 from a shaft 18 in order to adjust the scraper to or from the roller 1 and slightly towards or away from the bight. The bracket 15 is fulcrumed about a shaft 19 and has teeth 20 engaging a pinion 21 on a shaft 22 rotation whereof thus adjusts the scraper to and from the bight. The surface 8 is maintained in contact with the roller 1 by a rod 23 with a compression spring 24. The rod can be moved when it is desired to adjust the roller 1 by a handle 25 having cam engagement with an element 27 against which the spring abuts. The roller 1 may contact with a travelling web for delivering the dough blanks. Specification 321,403, [Class 87 (ii)], is referred to.
