[Class 52 (iv)] [See also Groups V and XXXII] A seat, mattress, chairback, arm-rest or like support comprises a number of superimposed perforated sheets of sponge rubber or expanded rubber, the perforations being so arranged that those in adjacent sheets coincide partly to form a number of separate intercommunicating cells in staggered relationship, the assembly being completed by a superimposed cushion and an upholstery covering. As shown the perforations are substantially square, and the cushion d is of cellular construction having webs e extending in transverse directions across its under surface. Alternatively the cushion may be a mass of sponge rubber particles enclosed by a rubber envelope. The top or base or both of the assembly of perforated sheets may be covered with a layer of rubber.
