Abstract
437,844. Printing-machines. ADREMA MASCHINENBAUGES., 20, Gotzkowskystrasse, Berlin. Sept. 5, 1934, Nos. 25548 and 25549. Convention dates, Sept. 9, 1933 and March 7, 1934. [Classes 100 (i), 100 (ii), and 100 (iv)] Addressing - machines ; impression - adjustments.-In a small manually-operated addressing-machine adapted for printing-plates 25, Figs. 1 and 3, provided on both their longitudinal edges 23, 24 with guiding margins, the breadth of the base 1 of the machine is greater than the breadth of the printing station or the length of the plates, grooves 22 for the guide margins are extended beyond the station, and a recess 58 is provided to serve as a finger abutment for the hand that slides the plates forward into printing position. A platen arm 4 pivoted in a groove 9 in the base 1 is rocked against the action of a spring 17 by means of a weighted head 10 to which a rubber pad 14 is attached by screws 12, a spherical projection 15 on a plate 11 integral with the head 10 resting on a plate 13 secured to the pad 14, so that the pad may be levelled by adjusting the screws. The guide grooves 22 are covered in by plates 26 parts of which are bent up to form guides 261 for an ink-ribbon 27, cover plates 28 for the guides having their side edges bent over to engage under lips bent up from the plates 26 and being supported at their free edges by flanges also bent up from the plates 26. Insertion of a printing-plate ejects the previous plate which slides down an incline 60 into a removable box 66, rods 69 projecting from the top side edges of the box engaging holes in the base 1. A tongue cut out and pressed down from each of the cover bars 26 engages a margin of the printing-plate to brake both the ejection of the used plate and the entry of a fresh plate. The machine may be used for printing dates &c. by inserting a type-box into a groove in the anvil, the groove being normally closed by a filling-piece ; a pin projecting from the box enters a hole in the anvil. In a modification, a recess 58 is provided at both sides, and the box 66 is attachable at either side, whereby the plates may be fed in from left or right, and the lever 4 is extended and has a ball end for gripping by the hand. Feeding sheets.-A gauge for envelopes &c. comprises a bar 51 which has one end 52 bent at right angles and is adjustable within a hook-shaped end 56 of a securing-plate 53 having a slot 54 to receive a fixing-screw 55. Ink-ribbon mechanism.-In the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the inkribbon 27 is carried by spools 33<1>, 34<1>, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), mounted on spindles 33, 34 and adapted to be rotated in either direction by means of a pawl-bar 38 which is loosely connected to an extension 16 of the platen arm and is adapted to be positioned so that the end 41 of the bar slides in either of two grooves 45, 46. When in the groove 45, a tooth 39 engages a ratchet 35 on the spool 331 and when in the groove 46, a tooth 40 engages a ratchet 36 on the spool 34<1>. The teeth 39, 40 are directed towards opposite sides of the bar 38, but in a modification the teeth are on the same side, one tooth being longer than the other and having a notch to miss the ratchet when the bar is in the position where the other tooth is in use. A hole in the ribbon appears at the printing station when reversal is necessary. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
