Abstract
436,325. Hinges. PARKES, S. R., Pretoria Works, New Road, Willenhall, Staffordshire. Sept. 21, 1934, No. 27195. [Class 65 (ii)] In a window hinge of the kind in which the hinge axis is situated outside the face of the window so that when the window is opened there is a space between its hinging edge and the frame, through which its outer surface can be cleaned, the hinge member fixed to the frame has a portion overlapping and lying closely against the face of the window, so that even if the hinge pin is removed or the other hinge member is detached from the sash the window cannot be opened without releasing the fastening. In the form shown, the fixed hinge member comprises an attachment plate 1, normally hidden between the edge of the sash and the frame so that the screws are inaccessible, a portion 6 bent round a bead on the sash which overlaps the frame, and a projecting arm 1<a> carrying the hinge pin 5 on which is mounted the member 3 fixed to the face of the window. In a modification the arm 1<a> may be fixed to the face of the frame by means which are not readily disconnected.
