[Class 52 (v)] In curtain suspending devices comprising a master runner the frame d of which slidably fits over the top edge of a rail a of flat web section the reeving cords are arranged between the rail and the wall and means carried by that part of the frame which extends over the rail are operable from the front of the rail to connect the master runner to the cord. As shown in Fig. 2, the upper part of the runner is formed with a screwed boss e through which passes a screw f the conical end of which bears on a conical ended plunger i sliding in a vertical rectangular tube g forming the rear part of the frame. The reeving cord passes through one of a pair of registering holes in the plunger and tube and by screwing in the screw f, the plunger is forced down to bind upon the cord. The free length of reeving cord passes over a flange g<1> or g2 on the side of the tube g. Finger-like cord guides l are provided at points along the rail. In a modification the tube g is replaced by two vertical flanges with pairs of holes, and the screw f is omitted and a hook provided on the front side of the runner frame. The reeving cord passes freely through the holes in the flanges and is fixed to the runner in any required position by being passed under the hook. In further modifications the screw f operates a lever adapted to pinch the cord in a clamp carried by the runner or between itself and the side of the runner. Fig. 9 shows the upper part of the frame formed as a curved tube through which the reeving cord is threaded, a screw t engaging the cord through a gap in the front wall of the tube. Horizontal anti-friction rollers may be provided to run on the web of the rail. To prevent canting of the runner under the pull of the curtains when drawn by hand the suspension rings are hung from a horizontally projecting pin rotatably mounted on the lower part of the runner.
