Nov. 2, 1934, No. 31510. Convention date, June 18. [Class 29] A vessel 10 of glass, particularly one having an opening at each end as shown, is formed of separate walls 11, 12, the glass of the inner wall having a lower coefficient of expansion than that of the outer wall, whereby stresses induced by the annealing operation after the mouths have been joined by fusion as at 14 are counteracted by the evacuation of the jacket. Where the two walls differ considerably in expansibility, a seal of one or more glasses of intermediate expansibility is used for fusing the walls together.
