[Class 44] [See also Group XXXVI] A cleat for securing cables to walls &c. and particularly adapted for simultaneously clamping cables of different diameters, such as cables e, f, Fig. 2, comprises upper and lower clamping members a, b held together by a screw h and provided with co-operating grooved and serrated surfaces g between which the cables are clamped. The screw h, which may also serve for attaching the cleat to a wall &c., passes through registering holes a<3>, b<3> in the members a, b, the hole a<3> being flared as shown to allow tilting of the member a relatively to the member b when cables of different diameters are to be clamped. The upper surface of the member a, adjacent the hole a<3> and against which the head of the screw h bears, may be arcuate or dome-shaped. To prevent relative rotation of the members a, b about the screw h, the sides of the member a are formed with depending tongues a<4> which engage recesses b' in the member b. In a modified construction, adapted to clamp three cables and shown in Fig. 7, the upper member is formed in two parts a<9>, a<10> which are arranged end to end transversely of the cables. The inner ends a', a<8> of the parts a<10>, a<9> interlock by a tongue and groove connection and are adapted to clamp a cable arranged centrally of the single lower clamping member. A bolt k secures the part a<10> to the lower member, whilst a wood screw h serves both to connect the part a<9> to the lower member and to secure the lower member to a wall.
