[Class 102 (ii)] [See also Group XV] In a filler for fountain pens &c. the delivery tube 5, Fig. 2, may be rigidly attached to the flexible member 6, which is in the form of a cup-shaped or disc-like resilient member, the edges 9 of which are gripped between the rim of the receptacle 1 and a suitably shaped lid 7 screwing or clipping on to the neck of the receptacle. Alternatively, the edges 9 may be beaded to engage over the beaded edge of a receptacle, when the lid 7 may be dispensed with. The tube 5 is provided at its upper end with a projection 3 to which pressure may be applied, the extent to which the tube and member 6 can move being determined by an adjustable nut 19 which is brought into engagement with the lid 7. The mouth 4 of the tube is formed by opening the tube at its upper end and pressing it out into a channel; the opening is normally closed by a removable pin. When pressure is applied, ink rises through the tube 5 and is delivered through the mouth 4 to the drawing pen &c. An aperture 13 may be provided for preventing ink rising in the tube due to changes in atmospheric conditions, this aperture being sealed during the beginning of the downward movement. Alternatively, the tube 5 may be made large enough to prevent ink escaping due to such changes. A cap 8 is provided. In a modification, the tube is rigidly connected either permanently or detachably to the ink receptacle 1, the base of which is closed by a flexible diaphragm, situated over a projection provided on the base of an outer container. The receptacle is normally maintained in an elevated position by springs, but when pressure is applied to the member 3, the receptacle descends and the projection on the container pushes in the diaphragm, causing ink to be ejected from the mouth 4. For filling fountain pens of the type having a spring- pressed valve 30, Fig. 8, seated in the end of the barrel 31 the outlet to the tube 5 is furnished with a rubber seating 26 upon which the end of the pen is pressed, while the end of the tube 5 engages and opens the valve 30 to permit ink to pass into the barrel.
