Abstract

431,117. Warning-devices for vehicles. OSBORNE, H., S. Briavel's, Kidderminster Road, West Hagley, Worcestershire. Jan. 1, 1935, No. 55. [Class 97 (i)] [See also Group XI] A rear warning-device for use on a vehicle comprises a fan rotated by movement of the vehicle through the air, and visual signalling- means continuously moved by the rotation of the fan, the fan being formed by pressing out blades from a substantially flat surface of a shallow cup-shaped member, and the signalling means being carried on parts of the substantially flat surface between the pressed-out blades. In the form shown, a bracket 12 secured to a cycle mudguard 11 carries a pedestal 13 terminating in a spindle 14 on which is mounted the fan having a forwardly extending flange 16, the blades 17 being pressed out from the surface 15. Reflectors 18 are mounted on the surface 15 between the blades, and a stationary reflector 19 is mounted on the end of the spindle 14. One of the rotating reflectors may be replaced by an electric lamp to which current is supplied by brushes. A wire ring 21 secured to the bracket 12 acts as a guard to the fan.
