Abstract
430,703. View-finders and telemeters for photographic cameras. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES., 72, Schandauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Nov. 23, 1934, No. 33781. Convention date, Nov. 23, 1933. [Class 98 (i)] To ensure that the field of view of the viewfinder in a photographic or kinematograph camera corresponds to the image field of the objective, means forming an optical wedge are mounted in front of the finder and coupled to the objective adjustment. The displacement of the moving element of the wedge may take place along the line joining the axes of the objective and finder. The camera may also be provided with a telemeter having ray-deviating means consisting of an optical wedge. In the form shown, the wedge in front of the view-finder consists of a planoconcave lens 3 and a plano-convex lens 2, the latter being rotatable about a pivot 26. A sleeve 14 on the lens mount 12 is coupled to the focusing adjustment 29 by a pin-andslot connection 17 and drives a cam 23 through gearing 20, 21, 22. The cam 23 moves a slide 24 bearing on the arm 25 carrying the lens 2. The finder consists of a lens 4 and viewing lenses 5 and 6, the latter being in the top of the camera and put into action by moving a pivoted mirror 7 into the optical path. A glass block 9 may be included between the lenses 4 and 5. The telemeter comprises a rhomboidal glass block 30 having a reflecting surface at one end and a transmitting reflector at the other, the ray deviating means consisting of glass wedges 35 and 36, rotatable in opposite directions by a pinion 37 on the objective mount.
