Abstract
429,977. Cables. STAPLES, H. A., 1000, Myrtle Avenue, Plainfield, New Jersey, U.S.A. Oct. 16, 1934, No. 29593. [Class 36] A flexible electric cable having a large overall cross sectional area relative to its metallic area comprises a core 11 of open seam tubing having the edges of the seam turnec inwardly to form flanges 12 tc prevent the tube from collaps ing under radial compression. The core is perforated at 15 for drainage of water and may be corrugated to allow for expansion ; it may be formed of copper or of an aluminium or magnesium alloy. Wires 20 are stranded, e.g. helically, upon and in contact with the core.
