Abstract

429,703. Vices. ROBERTSON, D., 373, Camden Road, Holloway, and NEWMAN & GUARDIA, Ltd., 63, Newman Street, Oxford Street, both in London. March 16, 1934, No. 8286. [Class 61 (ii)] A machine vice is adapted to be set in angularly adjusted position about a horizontal axis 7 by providing gauge points on the vice and on the base respectively such as a cylinder 9 and anvil 10 between which measuring devices such as slip gauges may be inserted of the correct dimension corresponding with the sine of the angle alpha to which the vice is to be set, the cylinder 9 being at a known distance from the pivot 7. Similar adjustment of the vice about a vertical axis is obtained by mounting the vice on a plate 6 pivoted to the base 13 and providing gauge points 16, 17 thereon.
