429,571. Hats and caps. HASENBURG, E., 30, Bahnhofstrasse, Mõhrisch, Ostrau, Czecho-Slovakia. Nov. 30, 1934, Nos. 34437 and 34438. Convention dates, Dec. 1, 1933 and Feb. 10, 1934. [Class 63] A cap or similar soft headwear provided with an inflatable insertion of rubber which is deflated when the cap is worn, and inflated so as to form the cap into a cushion, is characterized in that the insertion 2, preferably of annular form, is provided with a cover 3 of thin fabric of such a size and shape that the material of the cap is not distended when the insertion is inflated. The inflating means 4 is positioned, preferably between the peak 5 and the front of the cap, so as to be concealed in wear. The lining of the cap may form the lower part of the cover 3. In a modification, the insertion is of horseshoe shape to allow for ventilation at the front of the cap, and is provided with a projecting edge or with a number of flaps which are sewn to the cover. In this case, a part of the usual press button for securing the peak to the cap may serve as a closure for the inflating means.
