428,561. Cartridge belts. MANCINI, N., 20, Piazza d'Azeglio, Florence, Italy. March 17, 1934, No. 8454. Convention date, March 20, 1933. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to disintegrating metal-link cartridge belts for machine guns of the kind in which each unit comprises two flat metal plates 1, 2 hinged together, the part 2 of one unit overlapping the part 1 of an adjacent unit and the parts being held together by a cartridge c inserted between projecting clips 3, 3<1> on the part 1. According to the invention, the overlapping part of one unit is provided with a slot x through which the clip 3<1> on the adjacent unit passes, the units being thereby loosely linked together independently of the cartridges. The eyelets 5, 5<1> for the hinge pins are made oval in shape to permit of a limited twist of the belt when the gun is at elevation. A stop 4 is provided on the part 2 for the base of the cartridge. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes, with reference to Fig. 3 (Cancelled), a construction of unit in which the overlapping part 10 has a single clip 11 fitting between the clips 7, 7<1> on the other part 6 which also carries the stop 8 for the base of the cartridge. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
