[Class 8 (i)] [See also Group VI] A vacuum cleaner comprising an outer casing 10 of substantially constant cross section and provided with air inlet and outlet openings, a single electrically driven fan and one or more air purifying filters 16 mounted within said casing, is provided with a container 18 for holding a solid vaporizable perfuming, disinfecting, insect killing or like material, which container is located behind said filters reckoned in the direction of air flow and projects through a further opening in said casing transversely to the direction of air flow in order to be traversed by a part of the air stream passing through said casing. The container 18 comprises a member 19 rigidly mounted in the end cap 12, and a member 20 rotatably supported therein, the members 19, 20 having apertures 21, 22 which can be brought into register by rotation of the inner member 20. The disinfectant &c. may be in the form of a stick 29, crystals or cubes, or may be tubular in which case it is supported by a double spring mounted in the rotatable member 20 and engaging the bore of the tube. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the invention is applicable to hot air nozzles, portable driers and similar air-circulating devices. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
