427,369. Stone saws. ANDERSON GRICE CO., Ltd., and PATE, J., Taymouth Engineering Works, Carnoustie, Angus, and ROBERTSON, G. G. C., 20, Lumley Street, Grangemouth, Stirlingshire. May 9, 1934, Nos. 13975 and 33347. [Class 124] A saw for cutting stone, slate, &c. is provided with teeth each of which comprises a body portion 3, Fig. 3, of carborundum, silicon carbide or other abrasive material and a metallic tongue portion 2, 21, partly embedded therein, the tongue being notched or perforated to assist bonding ; the body portion 3 diverges downwardly from the blade. The projecting part of the tongue 2 seats in a continuous or interrupted groove 4 in the blade 1, and is secured therein by rivets 5. Alternatively the tongue 2 may be grooved to receive a tongue on the blade ; strips formed with tongues or grooves may be brazed or welded to the blade. In a modification, Fig. 8, the tongues 2 abut against a tongue 6 on the blade 1, and side plates 7 are secured to the two tongues by rivets. The ends of the blade may be strengthened by side plates 9 secured by rivets 10, and apertured to receive the blade tensioning means. The teeth may be widely spaced to permit the escape of stone dust, or they may be close together but concaved or corrugated as in Fig. 4.
