[Class 106 (iii)] Apparatus for indicating acceleration or retardation of a moving body such as a motor - vehicle comprises a tube 2 curved downwards and containing a bubble of gas, the displacement of the bubble 1 along a scale 4 indicating the change in velocity. The tube 2 may be fixed so that normally the bubble occupies a central position, or it may be mounted so as to be turned by knobs 9 and gears 7, 8 about an axis 5 in order to adjust the zero of the scale. Adjustable sliding members 10, 11 may indicate particular positions of the bubble. The radii of curvature of the tube may be different at different parts along its length to vary the fineness of the readings.
