Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 30, 1933]. [Class 4] [See also Group XIX] An indication or signal on a travelling aeroplane is given when a predetermined load resulting from the combined effect of dynamic pressure due to speed and that due to acceleration perpendicular to the lifting surface is reached. The pressure fluid from a Pitot-tube device is admitted to a flexible capsule 19 movement of which is transmitted through pivoted links to a plate 17 sliding on rollers 18 and provided with a cam surface 23, 26. The casing 12 of this device also encloses an accelerometer comprising a mass 13 supported by a spring 14 and provided with guides 16. The part 17 is arranged in an electric circuit which is completed when the rod 15 attached to the mass 13 engages the surface 23 whereupon a lamp lights up on the dashboard of the machine. The shape of the surface 23 is obtained from curves of maximum allowable acceleration plotted against dynamic pressure for the two main cross spars of any particular machine.
