[Class 19] [See also Group VIII] A rubbing-cloth comprises a backing having a rough or undulating surface of woven net or knitted fabric, for example, looped or pile fabric such as Terry cloth, Turkish towelling, moquette, corded or honeycomb cloth or embossed or pressed paper or felt, which is impregnated or coated with rubber solutions or dispersions on one or both sides or throughout its thickness to provide a rubber-impregnated discontinuous or porous surface. The rubber is applied in the form of a liquid of low viscosity to avoid a continuous coating. Vulcanized latex may be used or the rubber vulcanized during or after application to the base. Open work or net-like material may be backed with a layer of the same or different fabric. The rubber on the base may be used to join it to other treated fabrics. The cloth may be printed with or woven to any colour or pattern and transparent rubber is then used. The treated base may be embossed round the edges. Gloves or pads for cleaning or polishing may be made from the product. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 1111/14, [Class 140], and 381,596.
