Abstract

424,486. Spectacles. HEMPEL, P., 29, Breitestrasse, Cologne, Germany. April 5, 1934, No. 35089. Divided out of and addition to 423,641. [Class 97 (i)] In a temple piece according to the parent Specification, having a rearward extension which is resiliently urged into engagement with the side of the head, the extension is connected to the main part of the temple either by a leaf spring or by a helically coiled wire. In the form shown, the extension 4 has a projecting pin 8 extending into a socket 9 at the end of the main temple 1. A coiled spring 13 tends to rotate the extension 4 about an axis lying along the length of the temple 1 so as to press it against the head. In another form the temple and extension are in one piece which is weakened at the point of connection between them, a leaf spring being inserted at this point to urge the extension inwardly. In a further form the temple and extension are made integrally of helically coiled wire which, except at the connection between the two parts, is made rigid by an inserted reinforcement.
