Abstract
424,102. Valves. STRETTON, T., and CONCORDIA ELECTRIC SAFETY LAMP CO., Ltd., Thor Works, Tredegar Street, Cardiff. March 16, 1934, No. 8388. [Class 135] [See also Group XXXVI] A battery is provided with a gas exit consisting of a plug a having an opening j which is normally closed by a spring - pressed valve h of cup shape. The spring g bears at its upper end against a screw cap e having a depending flange f which co-operates with the cup h to enclose the spring. The opening j is surrounded by a raised valve seat j<1> which forms a channel m to trap electrolyte carried by the gas through the opening j. The space k between the valve h and plug a communicates with the atmosphere by means of passages l. A rubber disc i is held in an undercut recess in the valve h, and a rubber ring c makes a tight joint between the plug a and the battery case.
