Abstract

421,629. Flexible - tube pumps. PERCIVAL, S., 40, Chancery Lane, London.- (Santiago, M. C. ; Industrial Site, 26, Eloff Street Extension, Johannesburg, South Africa) Jan. 15, 1934, No. 1441. [Class 110 (ii)] The flexible tube 1 rests in a rectangular groove in a rubber bed 4, and is pressed upon by rollers 42 in a wheel 39, which is driven by hand or by power. The bed 4 rests on a pedestal 10, which can be adjusted vertically by means of wedges 15, 16, controlled by nuts 20 and screwed rods 19. Tapered recesses 29 are provided under the tube 1 below the junctures with the rigid inlet and outlet pipes 32, 33. The rollers may have rubber treads in which case a fixed bed could be provided for the tube. The bed may be itself inflatable in an alternative arrangement, or may be supported on springs. The portion of the tube pressed upon by rollers may be thickened and strengthened by reinforcing material. A further tube, or tubes 1 may be arranged above the wheel 39.
