420,146. Aircraft fuselages. WALKER, G. E., 65, Rockley Road, Sheffield. Feb. 22, 1933, No. 5415. [Class 4] In an aircraft fuselage which is built up externally of flanged metal pressings or stampings 1 adapted to meet in horizontal and vertical planes and to be secured at their flanges by riveting, bolting, or welding with strengthening-members interposed between and secured to the sections, the strengthening-members at requisite parts of the aircraft are formed as diaphragms 3 bridging the space of the hollow structure to form deckings, floorings, roofings, or mountings for the engines, fuel tanks, or other fittings to be accommodated in the aircraft. The flanges facilitate the attachment of bracing wires &c. and are disposed in the direction of flight and the sections may be corrugated. As shown, a keel 10 is provided in the cockpit.
