Abstract
419,866. Discharge devices. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. May 14, 1934, No. 14546. Convention date, June 2, 1933. [Class 39 (i).] A discharge device is provided with a filling of gas or vapour or a mixture thereof, and with a filamentary incandescent electrode 5 which is heated solely by the discharge during normal operation, the said electrode being wound in a bifilar manner and so located that its centre is turned towards the discharge path. The electrode is coated with barium oxide and is provided with two leading-in wires which are normally connected together, but may be used to heat the said electrode during manufacture. Preferably, both electrodes are similarly constructed.
