Abstract
418,484. Vehicle lamps. GUICHERD, L., 9, Boulevard de Villiers, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. March 5, 1934, Nos. 7021 and 7022. Convention dates, March 4, 1933 and Nov. 24, 1933. [Class 75 (iv).] A vehicle lamp comprises a single casing containing a searchlight for use on the road and a projector with total occultation as described in Specification 398,398 for use when passing other vehicles. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the door 2 of the lamp casing 1 carries the searchlight which consists of a glass 4, a half parabolic reflector 3, and a spherical bulb 11 having its lower part wholly or partially silvered and accommodated within a recess 9 in a horizontal plate 8 which is secured to the lower edge of the reflector 3 and to a vertical screen 7 which conceals a pilot light 12. The door 2 also carries a pressed metal support 5 for the projector with total occultation which consists of a glass 19, a semicircular screen 18, a reflector 13, and a bulb 16 which is similar to the bulb 11 and is vertically adjustable by means of an external screw 17. The anterior mask for this projector is formed by the screen 7 which is provided with an unglazed window 20. In another form, the lamp casing 22, Fig. 6, is formed with a cylindrical front flange 25 and carries the half parabolic reflector 27 of the searchlight, the reflector 31 of the projector with total occultation, and a U- shaped cradle 28 provided with slides 29, fixed nuts 30, and an insulated bar 33 carrying contacts 34 connected to supply wires 35. The remaining parts of the lamp are carried by the door 26, Fig. 4, which slides over the flange 25 and is secured in position by screws 61 (not shown) engaging the nuts 30. The front of the door is formed with a glazed upper part, a metal screen 36 with an overlapping edge 38, and an unglazed window 37, while its lower part is formed with a gutter 62 for the escape of water. A horizontal partition 39 extending inwardly from the door is grooved at 41 to receive an axially adjustable bulb 42, and carries a screen 45 which is perforated and fitted with translucent material. 46 is a pilot light which, when in position, is disposed behind the half reflector 27. A chamber 48 with a black outer surface is provided with projections 49 to engage the slides 29. Its front is open while its back is wholly or partly closed by a glass 50 and is masked by a semicircular wall 51. The latter carries a bearing 52 for a bulb 54 which is adjustable by means of a screw 53, and to the bearing 52 is secured a support 55 for conducting blades 56 connected to the bulbs and bent to engage the contacts 34 when the door 26 is pushed into position. The partition 39 terminates in a lug 57 which, together with the bulb 42, is adjustable vertically by means of a nut 60 on a screw 58.
