Abstract

416,540. Drying fabrics. TANDEL, K. F., 10, Fabriciusstrasse, Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. Dec. 5, 1933, No. 34204. [Class 34 (i).] Apparatus for drying fabric comprises a series of spaced drying units, an air-pervious conveyer for carrying the fabric successively through the units, and means for passing the air downwardly through the fabric in each unit. The intervals between the units permit of shrinkage and de-tensioning of the fabric. A heating device may be provided in each unit, the heating effect increasing from the exit to the entry end of the fabric. In one form, a drying chamber has several drying units each consisting of an upper pressure box 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 and a lower suction box 11, 12, 13, 14 or 15. In a unit, the pressure and the suction boxes lie close together, and the conveyer carrying the webs 4 runs between them. In the spaces 200 between the units, the upper run of the conveyer is supported by rollers 2. Fresh air is passed by a fan 33 past a heating device into the pressure box 6. The air then passes through a nozzle or nozzles, which may extend over the width of the fabric, and through the latter and the grid forming the top of the suction box 11. The suction fan 34 forces the air through another heater and into the pressure box 7. The remaining stages of the air flow are similar to the first, and the air is discharged at 380.
