Abstract

416,319. Nutmeg graters. LEA, J. C. CHATER-, and LEA, W. B. CHATER-, New Icknield Way, Letchworth, Hertfordshire. March 11, 1933, No. 21875/32. [Class 28 (ii).] A grater for nutmegs and the like comprises a grating surface 10 and a relatively revoluble nutmeg container 16, the nutmeg being kept in contact with the surface 10 by a spring-wire clamp 20 pivoted at 23 and carrying a pusher plate 19, the pressure being applied by engaging the ends 26 of the wire 20 with a stop 27, and relieved by disengaging the wire ends from the stop, after which the wire 20 and plate 19 may be swung away from the container 16 for the insertion or removal of nutmeg. The surface 10 is formed with beaded edges and an integral handle 11, the centre portion being formed as a bearing for a trough-like member 15 having a front rounded wall and a portion 17 struck-up from its bottom to form the container 16. The pivot holes 23 are formed in the sides of the trough and the handle 28, for the rotation of the container, is attached to the front rounded wall.
